hey,
i'm asking on behalf of a friend who has a minor predicament coming up with their status. They are a USA citizen who is here in Canada on a three year TFW work permit which is expiring in early october, their LMO and work permit have been filed for by their company, and though the LMO has been approved, they are still awaiting the visa itself. They need to go down to the US for some family stuff in the first week of October, which is after their work permit expires, but will likley be before their new one arrives.
I was once in this same situation, and what I did was bring my LMO letter to the border and then had them issue me a WP in person. the border agent did it, but was mildly annoyed at me for not just waiting for the one to show up in the mail. From what i recall, she told me that so long as I was only crossing by land from the US (where I am a citizen), and as long as i had a record of my application being sent in with my positive LMO, they would have just waived me through.
Any official knowledge or experience with this situation?
