Hi

I came into Vancouver as a tourist ( UK citizen ) and the border officer stamped my passport with a blue stamp

I've been a few times 3 times before to vancouver and I'm always stamped with the black stamp.

even the date config is different blue stamp date of entry 03 au 2012

black stamp usually has the date stamped example jun 03 2012

no exit date was written on stamp for me to leave - does this mean I have a 6 month stay = I'm only staying in canada for 1 month just visiting my mum who lives in Vancouver.

any idea what the blue stamp means - the border officer never said when I have to leave or wrote anything on my passport for me to leave by.

1. It doesn't matter what colour the stamp is. As nothing was written under the stamp nor were you issued a visitor permit, you were admitted for 6 months.

The shape of the entry stamp seems to have changed since earlier this year. I have entry stamps in several colors with the old rectangular shape, and the new oval-shaped stamp as well.

Just looking through my passport, the older stamps all have the date formatted as AUG 14 2012 (M/D/Y), except for Trudeau Airport, where it said 14 AU 2012. Now, even English-speaking Canada appears to have the 14 AU 2012 (bilingual D/M/Y) format.
