I went through the forum and found my answer, but my uncle keeps assuring me the law has changed and if you have recieved your citizenship through naturalizaton - than you can loose your citizenship.
basically, this is my situation. i got married on december 2012, to an indian citizen. i stayed about one year in india and returned back to canada roughly oct 2013. than i came back to india on aprl 2014 and am planning to reutrn back on may 2015. my husband and i want to stay in india for roughly 4-5 years due to his personal/work commitments. now my questions are, -->do i loose my citizenship? i have got my citizenship when in march 1999 (naturalization, parnets migrated to canada from india). second of all, i have oci for india, which is overseas ctizenship of india.. which allows me to stay in india, without renewing my visa every six months to stay in india. (you can have oci, if you were born in india and have other country citizenship). my uncle says, according to some new law in canada, if you have oci and you are naturzlied citizenship of canada--- you can only stay certain amount of time out of canada. if that is the case,than how much time can it be? because i keep seraching the net for laws, and i only com across is that as long as you r a citizen, you can stay as long as you wsh out side the country and return without loosing your citizenship.
