Hi Guys,

I just need an advice!! For OPNP they said provide your birth certificate or acceptable national document, but I don't have Birth Certificate available right now, what else I can provide to them?

And In checklist do I need to check birth certificate, if I'm providing something else instead???

Re: Birth Certificate Option

if you are in Canada and an Indian then you can get the birth certificate issued from BLS where they issue date of birth certificate issued by conciliate general of India...
else you can submit an affidavit based on your educational certificate and passport that this is you DOB and you are not able to get the DOB certificate from issuing authorities back home ... for OINP i submitted the affidavit ...and it worked ... hope this helps

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

Do we really need the affidavit or any other ID is acceptable ???

Where should I get this affidavit from ? I'm in GTA Do you know anything where I can get the affidavit, how much time requires to get one ??

Thanks

When I applied to OINP without a birth certificate, I did not provide them with any affidavit. I had my passport copies included in my application, which had my date of birth on it. I informed OINP in a cover letter that I did not have a birth certificate at the time, that procuring one may take a while, but that my date of birth was verified before it was put on to my passport, which has since been used to travel around the world. I asked them to accept this as proof of my date of birth, and informed that if they needed me to, I could furnish my birth certificate at a later date, once I had one.
I never had to do that, because they never asked me for it. My application got accepted anyway.

Can you please provide the draft letter ?

Do I need to check mark in the checklist for birth certificate, if you are not providing at this time ??

Make sure to check the birth certificate box in the form.
The checklist is the first thing that OINP sees when they receive your application, and if anything on it that is necessary is not checked, they automatically return your application for being incomplete. You can explain the Proof of DOB in your cover letter if necessary.
This was what I wrote:

Hi,

Please find attached to this application all of the supporting documents necessary to supplement my application.

You will find copies of all requested documents (except for when the original was requested) herein. Please note that I was unable to procure a copy of my birth certificate at this time- since the original had to be submitted to my school back in India at the time of my application, and since I had limited time in which to complete and send this packet to you owing to the 45 day deadline, it was impossible to be able to get the birth certificate in time. Nevertheless, I hope that my passport, which contains my date and place of birth, and which has been used extensively for travel to other countries, including the United States, will suffice in this case. It may be noted that production of original birth certificate is mandatory to acquire a passport in India. However, I should be able to provide a copy of my birth certificate in the next 30 days, if necessary.

Thank you, and please, do let me know if anything else is necessary.

Regards,

- I was not not sure if any document like passport or 10th certificate will work so i browse this forum and got suggestion that notarized affidavit will work so i googled who can provide and found one here ...you can find it in kijiji/google there are lots available in every city. but they will charge you for that... if you draft it yourself and take a print they will charge less . otherwise for writing and taking the print they will charge you 30-50 $ extra.... but as other friend suggested above you can try that way also .....
