Biometrics from the US?

I'm noticing in the Google Sheets that applicants from the US are being asked to complete biometrics when the Canadian Government website says it is unlikely they will need to submit them for PR. I am sponsoring my American husband and am wondering if we should just go ahead and get his biometrics done now? The wait time for an appointment in SLC is over a month which delays our application further. Can we do this in anticipation of the request or do we need to wait for the letter of request from IRCC?

You will need biometrics. It's confusing how they word it but you need them. Can't do it or make an appointment until you get the biometrics request.
