Biometerics

Hello,

I am currently residing on work permit in Canada. My temporary resident visa is expired so I applied for its extension. Recently I have received a letter from CIC which is asking to submit my biometerics.

My question is even though I am in currently residing in Canada, on a valid work permit. Do they still need my biometerics? A friend of mine told me that if you have a valid work permit. Your temporary status is automatically maintained. You only need to send your passport to Ottawa for visa sticker renewal. Is this correct?

Please advise what should i do in such scenario.

in my View if CIC have asked for biometrics then you have to follow that request and not what a friend may or may not have experienced.

1. The letter is in error, as if you are in Canada, you don't have to give biometrics. I assume you applied to Ottawa for your TRV.

Thank you for responses seniors.

I just filled up the forms and submitted my application online. I filed CSE for this issue as well saying please cancel this application and refund my fees as I had opted for wrong visa option. It has been more than two weeks and no response on CSE yet aswell.

I am so confused right now as the deadline for the biometerics is approaching fast. 8 Jan. Should I go and submit biometrics then? Any suggestions...
