Bill C-24 and eligible applicant for July 2015

Hi,
I've heard and read alot about Bill C-24, I wanted to ask from seniors about my specific case, here's the time line:

Work permit: July 2010 - May, 2013
PR granted: May, 2013
Time spent outside Canada (Vacations): almost 65 days
Citizenship application due: July 2015 (2 years a PR and 2 years work permit (half day count before PR) = 1 year)
Now if the bill come into effect in June, 2015 then according to the news and speculation that no days count before becoming PR then I'll be eligible for citizenship application in July, 2017 that's a long wait before I could call myself Canadian

Can seniors advise if that's true?

Yeah, from what I heard that's true. But I also heard the bill still has to go through some court. If the effective date is delayed, you still have some hope of getting in. For me, I have no hope and it's gonna be 4 years or more before I can apply :-\

applying july 2015+3 years processing time = Canadian in 2018
applying july 2017+1 year processing time= Canadian in 2018.

It really doesn't make much difference unless they really expedite processing applications before that.

Yes you are right Hundreds of applicant, but mostly from Ontario, if you are living in Ontario you can be more optimistic that one can get the whole process done in one year. However, the story for Winnipeg (MB) and Calgary(AB) applicant is not the same.

Anyway, what you heard regarding the bill is true and most likely the clause would be implement by Summer next year, if you pray hard you can pushed it to September, 2015. But all depends how hard and with devotion you can pray.

@HHH2000, it's not only me, I know there are thousands out there who are eagerly waiting to make this law delay to the end of 2015

All the people who will be eligible to apply July or August, have really good chances to apply according to the old law.

It seems that there is a problem or problems with the enforcement of the clauses concerning the applicants.

If there is no cut off date, that means that there are no changes of the rules and it looks like it will be like that for a long time.

But this is good for all the people who want to apply according to the old law.

I think this for people that have RQ but for noemal process it to 6 Mont to 1 year

I wish you are right, but I was wrong as well. Average processing time for normal applicant is still 24 months, while it is 35 for non-routine citizenship applications

I am in fact in the same situation that he is and it sucks.

Average processing time doesn't apply to everyone, this is the time when most of the application got finalized like the RQ one too.
