Better to file application under 4/6 to 3/5 rule?

I will be completing my residency requirement for 4/6 rule on 27 July 2017. If I do file under the 4/6 rule would I have to maintain 4/6 till the oath or would my requirement to maintain residency requirement also change to 3/5 years even though I would have filed under 4/6 rule?

I believe the day you signed the application and the rule on that day your application will be processed based on that. Thats what they did when they changed from 3/5 years to 4/6 years...

The sooner you apply the better regardless of C6 active or not.
First come first serve.

But as others may also say ensure you have some buffer days built in so that July 27th isnt the exact day just in case any days get questioned

According to Spyfy's answer in the link there is no need to maintain residency requirement after the application has been filed. Can somebody please confirm this?

• You Need to fulfill the residency requirement of 3 out of 5 years on the day before the date of your application. I quote from Bill C-6: "[to apply the person must have] been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days during the five years immediately before the date of his or her application". Note that any residence after the day of your application works neither against you nor in your favour:
  • If absences after your application get you below 3 out of 5, that will not affect your application
  • But also, if you didn't fulfil 3 out of 5 before the day of your application (e.g. you miscounted when you applied), you cannot "save" your application by saying "but by now I have 3 out of 5". Instead you'd have to apply again.
• Note that all the way to your oath you must be a Permanent Resident in good standing. That means no convictions, no removal orders and you must not be under review. So yes, you should maintain the 2 out of 5 residence of your PR obligation or otherwise you might be put under review when you enter Canada to take the oath and your citizenship application might be halted.

This may not necessarily be true, we don't know how CIC people work and they are not known for transparency ... one example : the parents sponsorship program - many people who applied 5-6 years ago are still waiting, but many who applied last year already started landing this year

You have to meet the requirement on the day of application. After you send the application you can leave but you take the risk of missing some important mail and some deadlines.

Yes we cannot predict how CIC will process internally but generally they follow first come first serve. Are you really going to advise people to not apply sooner if possible?

I am not advising anything , I would just file when I can/qualify, the rest would be out of my hand and I won't waste time trying to figure out " the best time to file"
