Dear members,
First, thank you all for your thoughtful help you offer to the others. Your assistance is genuinely appreciated.
This is the situation:
My wife is going to apply for an open work permit as a visiting graduate student (Well, she will be a full time student but somehow we were told that a work permit is required for her). She has all the documents and her host university has funded her stay. I want to accompany her during the stay and help her personally on her project as I have some experience in the area which will benefit her very much. The period is going to last up 9 months.
These are my questions:
1. What type of visa is the best for me to guarantee a visa as soon as possible? We are a little late as she was supposed to start her program on October 15 but translating and notarizing the documents took more time than expected. "Open work permit" type has been selected for me in her application. Is it fine? We are both applying from outside Canada. Will a visitor visa be better for me? I would like to be able to work there but getting a visa is the first priority.
2. I myself have already applied for the Express Entry program. While we generally intend to immigrate to Canada, for this program, we both want and need to come back to our country as my wife must complete her Ph.D. What's more, we both need to finish some work here.
Now, considering that I have applied for the Express Entry too, I do not know what to write for the letter of "Purpose of travel" to assure the officer that we have the intention of coming back. How should I write beside explaining the situation?
Thank you very much
