Best route to take?

Hi all,

Myself and my common law partner are about to start our PR process and I was wondering if anyone could help with the best route to take?
Originally, the plan was for myself to be the principal applicant as I have been in a managerial position since last September which means I will have my 1 year complete before our application goes in. However, I was under the impression that I was NOC code 0 and it turns out, I'm not. I'm manager in an office and therefore I come under NOC code B.
My partner is NOC code A but has only been working here in Canada for 3 months in that role. He struggled to get into his field when we first got here so he was working as a laborer. He has years of experience from home in his profession with NOC A code - would that help towards PR or is it only possible if you've been in the job for a full 12 months in Canada?
Essentially at this stage we're trying to decide who should be the primary applicant considering we both have the same level of education etc.

Any help at all would be so greatly appreciated,

Tina

Why can't a manager in an office be NOC code 0? Where are NOC 0's supposed to work?

Yes, your partner can show his previous work experience anyway.
Also, you can apply as NOC 0, A and B. It doesn't matter as long as the correct NOC code is chosen.

Thank you so much for your quick reply!
It's kind of a grey area to be honest- I'm manager at an eye Dr's office and we dispense contact lenses but because we don't dispense glasses it's not seen as 'retail' management which is NOC 0. I'm thinking I come under 'office manager', 1221 NOC B. I thought this would have massively damaged our results and points total but if it doesn't matter which one out of the three codes are used then we can continue with the initial idea of me as primary applicant. Thanks for clarifying that- I'm just starting the process and it is a mine field!

You and your partner can both make profiles with the other as secondary applicant.

Depending on the scores and who gets an ITA first, delete the other profile. Good luck.

To choose the NOC code, job title does not matter. The important thing is to match the duties closest to the NOC code.
