I am eligible for a few different paths to apply for PR, what would be the best way to apply?

  • Ontario Provincial Nominee - I am a Masters Graduate in Ontario, eligible to apply now
  • Canadian Experience Class - I graduated (bachelor + master) in Ontario, and now have a job, but I need to wait until November 2015 for my 1 year full-time experience before I apply
  • Spousal Sponsorship - I will be married to a Canadian next month, so I will be eligible to apply through spousal sponsorship too

Which would be the best (fastest? least hassle?) to get PR?

spousal would be the fastest way however there is some new rule that if you have not been married to your spouse for 2 years before you apply that you must stay together for 2 years after you get PR. If you were to break up before that you would loose your PR. It would be up to you and your spouse to decide if that would put any kind of stress in your relationship.

PNP Application would have more steps than the CEC however because you are already eligible for PNP doing PNP could be faster. However, you must be prepared to at least try to settle in that Province. You could move in the future but if there was ever any reason for CIC to think you intended to move that could also be grounds to take away your PR.

CEC now has the Express Entry system so if you have high enough points you could have your PR within 6 Months of starting the application process. But since you can't apply until the end of the year it may not be any faster than the PNP application. The up side would be that once you had your PR there wouldn't be any kind of stipulations on it.
