Hi,

I have sponsored my husband who lives in Finland. Our application has been approved and he will be moving here soon.
We are unsure about what is the best option for us when it comes to transferring his money from his bank account in Finland to here in Canada. His bank has suggested him to use net banking however he can only do that after he lands and gets a bank account here in Canada. He would like to bring all the money in his first landing so he would have no questions asked and to avoid any questions from the bank when transferring a big amount as a PR.
If anyone has any suggestions please do help and share your own experience.

Thanks!

Even i am working on this issue as i will also be moving to Canada in near future, but so far as per my survey the best was is to open a bank account in Canada after landing and than do online transfer or open an account in Finland with some international bank like HSBC or CITIBANK as they have the branches in Canada aswell and transfer all money into that account in Finland and than fly to Canada and contact any of the bank branch in Canada for transfering that account into Canadian bank account !

I work for HSBC in the UK. They can open an account in Canada for you before you even arrive (this may be subject to a charge depending how much money you have) You will still have to pay for a foreign transfer of funds, but there are different ways of doing it and the cost varies depending which service you choose. That being said, I'm not sure there are branches in Finland, but I could be wrong??
