Benefits to apply for newborn

This is post is for someone else. Regarding new born child benefits. What benefits are available to apply for newborn where to apply them at ? Does applying for child benefits affects the ongoing application sponsoring status ?

An application for child benefits will not affect a sponsorship application: Was the child born in Canada? If so, s/he is a CDN citizen. If not born in Canada, see second link above to determine eligibility for benefits.
