Benefit of applying as Self Applicant -VS- Applied Thru Consultant??

Hi there,

I wanted to know the benefits of applying thru a Consultant over Self Applicant.. I myself applied thru a Consultant that is a Member of CSIC (Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants) (He is in Canada but I am in Pakistan) on June 21st, 2010 under 0213 NOC.. Is there any difference or are we just throwing extra CAD $2000-4000 in this expensive process??

Seniors or who ever has an experience, please share your thoughts..
