Hello folks,

Glad to be here in this community.

So I just got married. I myself am a Canadian citizen who plans to sponsor and resettle my wife in Canada, particularly in Quebec. She currently resides outside of Canada.

I have downloaded all the forms and the country specific forms too from CIC.

Apart from the guide, what else do I need to be careful about?

My marriage was an arranged marriage. So what are the specifics for this ? What do I need to be absolutely sure of to make my application successful ?

Just go through your Document Checklist thoroughly, gather all the supporting documents, then fill out the forms. As long as you provide all the documents in order, as mentioned in the Document Checklist (and your Country Specific Requirements), you are good. Follow the Complete Guide on how to arrange the documents (for example do not staple and use paper clips if necessary). It's going to take you some time to get your application package ready. Then it's going to be a long processing period. Standard is 1-year from the day they receive your application, but prepare for about 1.5 years. Both of you need to be very patient and keep busy with your own lives throughout this process. In the mean time, go on vacation together to some other country if you can. When IRCC wants Biometrics or Medicals, do not procrastinate. Best wishes to you and your wife.
