Hello everyone,
Here is my little complex situation. I Suffer from ADHD and GAD (both officially diagnosed by a psychologist/psychiatrist in a six months process) I have been struggling with testing (doing a degree) I have been full-time since I got on in semester one (currently in semester 5) and I am unsure of what will the outcome be (I am on my second academic probation sadly, the first one was for 0.2 (out of 100 not kidding, its absurd I know and now for 0.8 again, out of 100). On the other side, I am work-study (at my college of course) at 13.5 hours per week, however, my psychologist at my college mentioned once that I am legally allowed (due to my disability) to become part-time and I think he mentioned (I don't remember if it was him or just a random person) that as long as I don't work off campus I should be allowed to still be a work-study. I would like to confirm if this is true? I am still trying as hard as I can to stay as a full-time student since I personally don't want to fall back and if I do become part-time it would just be to get out of Academic probation (for two semesters since I would have to wait for Winter 2018 in order to go back on track with the next semester classes that are only offered in Winter). I get above 80 (mostly 90) in all assignments, quizzes, cases and presentations sadly, exams are one of those things I have not managed to pull out properly even on my ADHD medication (this semester I did not fail any midterms for the first time, however, I did not get the mark I wanted or expected which is why I'm unsure of what will happen after the finals). Not to get into details but, I have been trying and I don't do this in order to just be lazy or focus on work more than my studies (I do need some source of part time income in order to sustain myself since I don't want to ask my parents for more money they already pay rent and my tuition). I came here and was a gym addict, no nail biting or smoking (which I used to do before starting to work out), I went from 185 pounds to 120 (113 in my critical point) due to anxiety, insomnia caused by my lack of focus and achieving a positive outcome in exams. Im saying this because I am really trying I don't want people to think Is an excuse to just work more (as some people have told me claiming that even my anxiety is an excuse, which I respect but its hard to describe what happens since im an anxious person in general but sometimes it just goes beyond my control, especially when grades are so focused only on exams). Back to the main questions, Can I be a part-time student and be a work-study at the same time? if not, any ideas or suggestions (I need a part-time income so stop working is not an option and my job at my college is really not stressful at all and have really convenient hours).
