Be careful from this

Hi I received one call today around 1PM from 613 995 6486 and said calling from CIC.
He said his name is peter he also said some one complain to police about me .

I was little bit nervous but I know I haven't done anything wrong.

Anyway be careful ............. from this people..................................

Yep a quick GOOGLE of the number came up with this as an example https://m.facebook.com/KingstonPolice/posts/10154769429549972

Seems plenty examples of a scam with this number and expect could may be one of those where they pretend to hang up should you say you will call them back but in fact they don't hang up making it seem you are calling them on a valid number..

Have no answer to that but there are plenty of scams around where cold callers somehow find names and telephone numbers from various lists they purchase based on where someone has in the past given their phone number and name away. If they call again ask for the name of the police dept that a complaint has been made to and if they either hang up or will not give the information to you then its a scam.

Also if you ask to call them back and they hang up is likely a scam. Some scams have even involved 'intercepting' a call back where they give a genuine number but they never leave your line so always on a call back clear the line before call back.

Obviously if money mentioned then hang up anyway

In this day and age of the Internet, anyone's name and other personal information can be found through web searches and services that look though public records and databases. You may have unknowingly revealed what you would consider an insignificant detail about yourself (such as your city of birth) that a determined stranger can use to look up other information about you.
