BCGuy,
I have an FSW application filed and was already issued a "file number" from the Canadian embassy in Manila. I am being represented by a lawyer based in Ontario.
I started my application in May of 2008, I am a Registered Nurse here in Los Angeles California currently working as a Hemodialysis Nurse for over 4 years now.
Recently, I have read from some websites about the priority occupation list and have talked to some willing employers.
My questions is which is the best way to immigrate to canada, is it through my existing application under FSW or through work permit visa? Waiting time is a factor to me that is why I am considering other possibilities. If I can find a willing employer, can it be grandfathered by my existing immigrant application?
If I will go there under a work permit visa, can it be converted to PR VISA? If it can be converted, what will be the process?

Actually you could have gotten your PR status in 6 months or 3 years ago,You could have gotten a BC PNP as a nurse and arrived 2-3 years ago,You could go automatically under the Alberta AINP and been processed and nominated WITHOUT a job offer in about 6 months,Since You have an H-1 visa,I presume Who told you to go FSW,Thats going to take so long,You can go BC,Alberta,Saskatchewan.....as PNP or leave for Canada Immediately under the AINP Strategic stream,Look up their websites and to quote Shakespeare "kill your Lawyer"

BCGUY,

Are you suggesting that it would be better for me to re apply via PNP as opposed to my existing application right now?... Can you give me the process on how to do that, please.. As I have said on my first thread time is really important to me right now and I really want to go to Canada the soonest time possible... When I hired a lawyer I did not have so much information and thought that the easiest way to do my application is through hiring a professional (immigration lawyer). If I will go for the PNP or any other program to expedite my immigration to Canada, does it mean abandoning my existing application as FSW? I am really confused but very thankful to have heard from you immediately. For your added info, my legal status here in the US has expired and that adds to my worries... how does my present legal status in US affect any application to immigrate to Canada?

I really appreciate your inputs and would like to hear and learn how am I going to go about the PNP process. Do you know of any institutions or office that I can contact to process a PNP application. I have talked with one hiring manager in Ontario who is willing to offer a job to non-immigrants. I believe it is under the work permit category. Should I ask her if they are willing to petition me under PNP?. If I will go under PNP what will happen to my common law partner who is part of my original application. My intention is to immigrate with partner at the same time. I know I have raised a lot of questions and I would like to thank you in advance for your quick response.

Thank you again and hope to hear from you soon..

Yes,It is faster to go via PNP,But many Immigration Lawyers are not familiar with it,If you need a Manila Based Immigration Firm that knows PNP,I can refer you to one,But I am not guranteeing anything beyond this Firm being licensed in Canada and your common law partner is included in your application
