If one is lucky enough to obtain a full-time, permanent job offer as a Front Desk Clerk in BC, does the employer have to apply for an LMO for this position? I just wondered if it would be exempt as it is identified as one of the semi-skilled strategic occupations. I am just learning about BC PNP's and am having difficulty finding an answer anywhere. Thanks for your help.

Hi Pippin

My understanding is that you need an LMO for most positions. Even Doctors still need an LMO
But if you're under the PNP for application then in theory you shouldn't need an LMO, but you would need your
potential employer and the PNP supporting your application for a new job.
Hope this helps

Thanks Frustrated. I was hoping the LMO step would not be required. Has anyone found a reference in the OP Manuals stating this?

No, I am a Canadian, but I am helping someone with his immigration and looking into this option as he is more than qualified for the job. I've gone cross-eyed reading the OP manual and can't find any reference to the Strategic Occupations. Must be time for some sleep.

My understanding is that an LMO is needed which basically states that a company has gone through the correct procedures of
posting a job for a certain period of time which hasn't been applied for by a Canadian candidate. It is up to the employer to get the LMO, which isn't difficult and should take days. Then your friend can apply for a work permit.
