Hi all,

I am currently waiting for my PR to be approved, I applied in September 2022 and it has been stuck in the background check for about 1 year now. I applied through BC PNP Tech program and my nomination has expired for about 9 months at this point. The tech program also only requires your job offer to be valid for 120 days when you apply for BC PNP. So I am curious do I still need to worry about them canceling my nomination if I lose my current position or switch employer? I am also on an open work permit.

Thanks in advance.

Your nomination will not be cancelled if you do the following; find a new job in the tech program that is a similar TEER level or higher. once you have the new job, communicate this with the BC office. They will make sure the new job meets the requirements to maintain the previous nomination. They may or may not issue you an updated nomination with the new employer but thats not really urgent. BC would then communicate the changes to IRCC, while you submit the new job letter via webform.

If you fail to do the above, meaning, not inform the BC office. You risk having your nomination and PR application being cancelled. You can switch jobs or lose a job, you just have to communicate this.
