Hi! I recieved my BC PNP approval last month (Dec 2015) and am currently in the process of applying for a work visa to allow me to continue working whilst i go forward with Federal PR application. I'm currently living in Victoria BC Canada with my brother.

I'm confused as i've read multiple forums that have said i can just go to a border with my work visa support letter from the PNP so am wondering whether this would be a better option rather than applying for a work permit through cic. I have almost finished my CIC application for a work permit but have come up the issue of it asking me for and LMIA number or LMIA exempt number, which my work permit support letter says i'm exempt from : " we request that her application for a work permit (to be submitted by the applicant) be processed without the need for service Canada confirmation"

My approval package also states "your employer will not need to apply to service Canada for a labour market impact assessment" but the work permit form won't let me submit it without a number in this box.

Please help! I'm desperate to get back to work but if it's easier and less confusing to drive to the border/flagpole and get a permit would be very grateful to know.... as i'm sure you're all aware there's no hope of getting through to a human representative on the phone for such answers.

Thanks in advance for any help! Much appreciated!!

Definitely just go to the border! Two of my friends did it separately last weekend with PNP letter, it took about half an hour both at the abbotsford crossing. Bring the WP support letter, a letter of employment from your employer stating your wage, title, location, etc. Passport, obviously, and your currt immigration docs. Most importantly, your employer needs to pay a compliance fee online and you need to bring a print out of the receipt with you. Also no harm to have your resume, education certs, just in case the officer is a douche
