Hi Friends.

Have a question on BC Helth Care (MSP).

http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/msp/infoben/eligible.html#when

Here it says "waiting period that normally consists of the balance of the month of arrival plus two months. For example, if an eligible person arrives during the month of July, coverage is available October 1."

My Question is whats the meaning of "balance of the month of arrival"? I am planing to land in Vancouver on 20th November 2012. Does that mean my MSP will start from 1 Feb 2013?

Regards,
Pankaj

Hi PMM,

Thanks for your reply.

Hi Seniors,

PMM has already answered my question but by doubt is on "balance of the month of arrival".

I am planing to land in Vancouver on 19th November, I will reach at night. and I will be able to apply for my SIN and Health Card etc on 20th or 21st November. Keeping this in mind when my MSP will be activated.

My Wife is pregenant and expected delivery date is 17th March 2013, I want to know when our MSP will be activated.

Will it be 01-Feb-2013 or 01-Mar-2013. (Keeping in mind our landing/health card application dates)

Regards,
Pankaj

Do you have a specific reason why you are going to settle in Vancouver? Because if you settle in provinces such as Alberta right after landing and stay there for at least 6 months, you can have provincial health coverage immediately.

Hi steaky,

Thanks for your reply, I have my Uncle and his family living in Vancouver, BC. and we are planing to stay with them initially.
