Hi all,

I am a permenent resident of Canada, and I am wondering when I can apply for citizenship as its confusing this rule of 3 years out of the last 4 years, do I apply as soon i complet the 3 years or wait for a fourth year then apply.....secondly, i am planning to leave canada as soon as i reach the minimum days required to apply for citizenship so if I leave after the 3rd year and CIC knows that i am outside the country would that complicate my citizenship application,if yes in what way it will complicate it.

Regards

Once you reach 1095 days within the last 4 years, you can apply. You don't have to wait 4 years after getting your PR status.

I believe theoretically you can leave Canada once you are eligible, but I'm not sure how the CIC would view this.
