Dear all,

Just want to get a few thoughts on this.

In order to show proof of funds, I have attached documents from three separate banks. The status of the documents is as follows:

Bank 1: Letter from bank is per CiC requirements and 6 months Bank Statement is original and stamped. This bank account has more than the required funds I need.

Bank 2: Letter from bank is not per CiC requirements (Stubborn bank :( ) and 6 months bank statement is original and stamped (however both the letter and the stamped statement do not show the date the account was opened). This account also has more than the required funds.

Bank 3: No letter from bank. Bank statement is online. This account just receives my salary. The total in this account is below the required funds.

Do you think CiC will reject me based on lack of proof of funds because of the documents I submitted for bank 3? Or do you think they will not mind because bank 1documents are all correct and that account alone shows enough proof of funds?

Bank 1 statement is more than enough because that alone has sufficient balance to satisfy your POF requirement. No need at all to upload the other 2 bank certificates.

You do not have to disclose all your personal financials to CIC!

Upload all the statements as CIC requires to see all your accounts. In addition, the salary statement would be very important in verifying your employment especially if you're claiming points for that work experience. Also it proves your source of funds. You're fine though, just add a letter of explanation to CIC informing them that you couldn't get the other 2 banks to write a letter in their specified format.

I would disagree on 2 counts.

1. CIC doesn't really require every single piece of the applicant's personal financial activities. The applicant's major assets and liabilities are anyways kept out of POF because the POF doesn't consider ownership of assets like property, land, vehicles, jewelry, equity, mutual funds, lease rentals on self owned property etc. All it concerns itself with is cash in the bank. As long as the balance in a single bank account or multiple bank account(s) is equal to or higher than POF, CIC's requirements are met.

2. Evidence of salary credits isn't required at any point in time especially for FSW applicants. CEC applicants might be asked to submit details because those are easily verifiable by CIC. Having said that, there is no real harm in showing evidences of salary credits to CIC but it is strictly superfluous information which has no bearing on eligibility or selection.

You can leave it out. Focus on having funds in the bank for POF.

For credit cards, if you have one with the bank, it will show up in the banking profile. My bank made me the with all the accounts that I have and that I owe $0.68 CAD in my credit card lol.

But for proof of funds you're also required to show credit cards and loans. CIC doesn't only want to know if you have the available funds, they also need to see your financial profile.

I have a bank account in India however I am not living in India currently. With regards to proof of funds, I am only able to submit online bank statements. Is it okay if I provide an explanation letter? How do I go about it??

Thank you

Please have your online bank statement stamped if you intend to use it or it may be refused. The link below is of someone with the profile name nick whose application was rejected for providing online bank statements only.

Anya, I uploaded from three different banks. One of them was in the correct format (letter and statement original & stampled) and had amount above the required proof of fund. While the other two bank docs were not as per CIC requirements. Will that be okay since the bank that had everything in the correct format is enough for proof of fund?

That should be fine. Only Bank 1 was required in the first place since it had enough funds. The other 2 statements are redundant.

I am residing outside of Canada. I just meant that I got letters from three different banks and only one of the banks provided the letter exactly to CIC's requirements. I am sure many banks in your country of residence will agree for the letter if you let the bank know how important having an appropriate letter is for your application.
