Hi!
Im starting to put papers together for application and more questions keep rising up, hopefully this forum exists!

Im applying for common law outland.
We have a joint bank account, we have had it for 11 months, do i send the bank statement of each month? Is it necessary?
We dont really use that account a lot so I was wondering since some months it only has one or two transaction, however in the last 6 months we payed some household bills with it.

So, do you normally send all the statements of the joint account, or you choose relevant ones? I do have the opening bank account papers im definitely sending those.

Also, some of the bills for example the phone bill in both our names is payed by my partner, do you add bank statements from one of the partners showing this kind of payments? i was wondering how many, do you send a year of statements?

If you do send this ones theres a lot of transaction on my partners statement, do you highlight the relevant ones? will groceries shopping stores will count too?
If that is the case should i send my statements too? im just trying to decide what is the relevant papers to show we share expenses.

How did other applicants did it?? Any suggestions?
Thanks you sooo much!!!

Hi

There's no need to send every monthly statement. We sent the first statement and one from every 3 months after that, around 4 or 5 in total.

Just the copies of the bills are fine. The key thing you are showing is that the bill is addressed to you both at the same address to back up your common-law status; showing that you paid the bill isn't really relevant to the app.

I wouldn't bother including any of your individual bank statements unless you are showing transfers between your accounts; for example, if you transfer your half of the rent to your partner's account every month, including a few statements showing that transfer being sent and received is good relationship proof.

Not sure what you think highlighting the grocery shopping on your partner's bank statement would show in terms of proof for the application..."Look! My partner eats food!" lol

Hahahaha good point, im overthinking this, is just that keeps saying proof that you both share finances, like household items receipts so im just trying to think theres not a lot i have on that...

Thanks for your answer, that will make paperwork easier, i was hoping not to have to send 12 month statements from 3 banks so ill do what you did.
Thanks again!!

Hi, was hoping someone could answer here too, what about the joint bills like power bill and netlix, etc. How many did you send since is the same information every month.
Thanks!!!

Same thing. One from every few months is fine.
