Hi, maybe am wrong about it , but from what I've read/ been told...I don't think a relative in Canada can sponsor you for a visitor visa. What they can do is write you an invitation letter stating that they are waiting for your visit and will accommodate you/tour you around.

As for the 1,500 is that for your expenses for your stay in Canada??? You would need a lot more money to show you have stable income /money in your account as to not rasie any red flags for them....they basically want to make sure you have enough money in you account in your country of residence so they know you will return. Hope this helps a little !

I am not sure that the rationale for showing a substantial bank balance is to prove you will come back as we all know money can be transferred from one bank to another....I think it is more to show that you are established in your country, you have a good job to which you will return, and earn enough money to save it to provide for international travel. You will be wise to show all your savings, investments and property ownership in order to strengthen your TIES to home.

Hello

Thank you guys for the response.

Yes I do have job here in UAE, but my income is not that high compare to other. Just starting my career . I have 1 year experience as assistant engineer, earning 3000 aed. My travel history was when i had my on the job training/ internship here in UAE last 2010. And after 3 months I go back to Philippines for my graduation.

My mother is here working in a salon. Im planing to submit my application at the end of this month.

My papers:
invitation letter from my uncle and auntie to celebrate Christmas and new year with them
their notice of assessment, residence card
letter from my boss --granting my vacation stating i have 3000 aed salary
letter from my mother - testifying that I will come back here (do in need to include this part?)
bank statement: 1500 cad $ 3 weeks vacation
itinerary

FYI only,
my auntie is holding permanent card while my uncle is purely canadian citizen
please advise if this is enough

It will be a good idea to show that your mother lives where you do. You want to be sure the authorities know you have MORE ties outside Canada than inside. Also be sure to include a compelling reason for your visit in your cover letter. I have seen a case where the person wanted to visit Canada in the winter to visit friends and enjoy the snow. Reading CAIPS afterward, that officer dismissed this as a valid reason for a holiday "Who would want to visit Canada at that time of year?" I was shocked - don't they realize that summer AND winter tourism is an important part of our economy? So, use your cover letter to be sure they understand how solidly your ties are to home, that you will abide by the terms of the visa and return to xxxx before it expires (or the date when you have to return to work, etc.) Good luck.

Pippin, yes you are correct, you worded your sentence a lot better then myself!

Ryzriela, What I wanted to convey is that -if you only have 1,500 in your bank account, I think that this would be a red flag for the immigration officer as it shows you don't have strong financial ties/established in your country of residence, so you will need to provide stronger documents (such as a property lease).

You seem to have gathered all the necessary papers, and it doesn't hurt to keep your mother's letter with the papers.
As for your relatives in Canada , I don't think it matter if they hold a PR or citizenship , as long as they are willing to provide you will invitation letters.

I think that $2000 would be enough for you're spending money while visiting Canada, espically if you are staying with family and don't have to pay for a hotel!!
What do you mean by cover letter??? When my husband filled out his visitor visa application he didn't include a cover letter- in the envelope he had his docunments that he filled out from the CIC website - he had an inviation letter from my father- letters from his company with his salary, position, his vacation time and when he is expected back at work. He also sent bank statements for the last 3 months , bank statment for his account, rental agreement and the required pictures signed and dated! Hope this helps :)

for a cover letter you can state:

application for visitor visiter
you're full name
and then you could write:

please find attached the following application forms organized as followed with supporting documents:
Here you would list the application forms that will be submitting to the embassy!

Again hope this helps :)
BTW- are you applying through the Canadian embassy in Abu Dhabi???

I am absolutely sure that in case if your Canadian family provide an affidavit staying that they are going to provide you an accommodation and support as well as they guarantee your return back home, you do need to show too much funds. (about 3000 would be enough) However guys in thread are right, I do recommend to show your ties, which are your family there, job, etc

I think you will need to use Aramex to send your application with them- check their website/maybe give them a call for more details !! Also, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to apply- the Abu dhabi location is very slow from my experince and you don't want to be in a panic close to when you want to travel!
