I have my funds in Bank of America since I was in the US. Now before going to Saskatoon, SK; I want to transfer some funds from Bank of America to any bank in Saskatoon.

I am thinking to opening new account in a Saskatoon bank partnering with Bank of America before I land there. My idea is that it will be transfer fee would be cheaper in that case.

Does this plan look good? Is there any advantage in opening account in bank partnering with Bank of America?

Scotia bank is BOFA partner in Canada and only advantage you will get out of this partnership is that you can use BOFA ATM in Scotia to withdraw money. Look into XE and Transferwise for lower transfer fees. If you find anything cheaper than please do post here , I will need to transfer my BOFA funds to Scotia sometime next year :D

I read today on bank of America website that although they don't charge anything if Scotiabank ATM is used, there is still a 3% international fee charged.
So I guess their ATM is not entirely free.

But it probably is better option then to travel with lots of cash.
I am thinking of using the ATM for a few days until New bank account is opened.
