Hello,
please advise where to get the address for making bank draft or money order to Sydney CIC?

In the application guide they state Payment method options as paid by certified cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the “Receiver General for Canada.”

The matter is that my bank doesn't give any cheques. So the only possible option for me is a bank draft or money order. Where can I get their details required for transaction?

Thank you for your assistance.

suin, r u applying from maryland?

your bank doesn't give international money order. You should be able to tell them that you need an international draft made out to the receiver general of canada and most big banks (that have a forex division) will do it. Credit unions might not (i dont know much about credit unions).

I guess I misunderstand something. The bank draft & money order are the same or different things? Can I use Western Union for making a money order for example?
Which address I must use to send the money - not the receiver's name?
I understand that it should be paid to the receiver general of Canada, but maybe they have some bank account details for doing that?

i am not sure if they are different or same. I know most banks give out international draft or money order.
If western union will give a money order in CAD, then thats good too.
I don't know of any account number. if you need an address only, i guess you could use the courier address but someone has to confirm this.

r u applying from MD?

Dear Suin

There is no need for the add on the bank draft form just mention 'Recevier General for Canada' & in purpose field write 'Immigration fees', thats all, or if ur bank doesnt issue Draft then u can go to any money exchange & get it done

Thank you for all your answers. Could you please clarify whether my principle application fee can be paid by my friend in Canada?
thank you

yes, if he write a check with the governer as the payee and send it to you, which then you add to your application packet to sydney.

Rupesh, I might be wrong but I guess you cannot send personal checks. Otherwise they would not have said "cetrtified check" in the instructions. If the applicant resides in the US, they can go to any main branch bank (preferably the one they have an account with) and ask them the issue a check or anything in CAD payable to Receiver General for Canada". Banks may have different names for this check but whatever it is, it is made out by one bank on their account in a Canadian bank made payable to the Receiver.

That is true. I should have been more clear. The person needs to get a certified check from Canada and send it to the OP who will then add it to their application.

I am not sure why he is struggling to get a certified check from a bank here. Wachovia did mine. Any big banks in the US will do.

Thanks WPC71.

Suin - it has to be a certified check. I also heard that USPS will do CAD. Ask them.
