Background Verifications = Security Check?

Hi all,

When i follow up CIC with my case status, they reply me saying Background Verifications are in process since July 24, 2014.

Is Background verifications same as Security Check? I have been waiting for PPR 8 months.
 
Yeah I think so. Security checks sometimes take pretty long. So did you apply 8 months ago, get AoR 8 month, or get MR 8 months ago?

I got MR and RPRF request 8 months ago, and Ecas changed to in process on July 24, 2014.

Oh that's been a while. Did you order GCMS notes to know it's the background check that causes the delay? Are you from those "sensitive" countries, or travel a lot?
 
Which country are you from? I think you can check with local MP why its taking a longer time for background check.

So your application has taken almost 20 months and still no update from CIC. Hope for the best and we will all get our PPR's soon.

I ordered GCMS notes on June which states the Secutiry not started. I got reply from Case Specific Inquiry in the end of July, which says Background Verification is in process.
Is China counted as a sensitive country? I travel from Canada to China every two years, also travel to US twice in between. After getting AOR number, I retured to China to work until now.

I am from China.
After getting AOR, i returned to China to work until now.
I emailed CPP with a big tilte of " 18 months so far, please responed". CPP replyed me saying "Our office confirms that your application is being processed as per our regulatory timeline."
 
Just to Confirm , Have you applied under CEC ?
