hi, just wanted to know what's background information that the immigration want to check on applicant?

They focus on two areas: civil and medical. In the civil area, they check for criminal record and terrorist activities. Surely we don't want criminals, supporters of terrorism and terrorists of any sort in Canada. In the medical area, they check whether you are ill insofar as contaminating Canadians after you land. Infectious diseases, or diseases which might otherwise incur high medical costs on the Canadian taxpayers are under scrutiny.
