Hi All,

How rigors is the background check for employment? I received the ITA and uploaded my employment reference for my current and previous job. Problem is my previous manager has left the company so I had to provide reference of another colleague, will they call or email the previous job reference? Or is the background check more intense for the current job?

It depends if there is something sketchy on your letters. If so, they might contact the person you provided in the letter to verify the validity of your claims. BUT, the majority of applicants won't get to that point if the officer is satisfied your claim is valid by conducting their own checks.
