Hi!

Does anyone know if there is any website we can use to check the background of the immigration lawyers in canada for free? There are a lot of fraud lawyers out there and I don't want to be a victim. Thanks!

I would second the opinion to give the host of this great site a shot at taking care of your needs.

One thing I noticed about the Canadian Bar Association sites is there doesn't seem to be public assess to checking the status of lawyers. In many other countries you can go online and enter the name of the lawyer and find out if, when, and where they studied, if they are in good standing, and sometimes more information. If you want to check out a lawyer I would think you should call the provincial Bar Association for the region you want to hire a laywer in, and ask how you can get the information.

why do you even need immigration lawyer everything is in the (cic) web site you only need to print out and feel don't throw away you doug.

I spoke with one of their staffers about their services on Monday and he seemed very knowledgeable and answered my questions in a very staightforward manner. My fiance and I strongly leaning towards retaing their services.

And in response to the people who say there's no need for one there can be plenty of reasons from complications like a possible criminality issue, feeling unsure about some of the requirements in terms of documentation, etc. In my case if I get the position I applied for I'll be working 50+ hrs a week while the paperwork is being done, it would be worth to have somebody step my tired and fogged mind through it and make sure everything is filled out right.

you can try this csic-scci.ca and find for the name of the consultant and will show if he/she is approved.
