Background check status change from completed to in progress

I checked my online account and discovered that the background check which was updated to completed in February 2021 was updated to in progress on June 20, 2021. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Well, this could mean that fingerprint request might be a possibility.

This is just strange. So why update to completed in the first place. Nothing surprises me again with CIC. Won’t be surprised if my online account shows application received June 2021 despite getting AOR in October 2020. Pathetic

Your FP may have expired between Feb 2021 an June 20 2021 (you could confirm that if you sent them FP between Feb 2020 and June 2020). I think it is good to know it had been "completed", so at least you have pointers to what may be going on.

Just checked my online account again and everything has been updated to completed except citizenship ceremony which is not started. Seems CIC just loves making changes to my online status.

Well either it is a glitch OR the officer accidentally changed the status somehow and then restored it back. LOL! But I'm glad things are back to normal.

I have the same thing happened to me.
I received FR request back in September 2019 and i submitted them then ever since the status said COMPLETED AND i received the test invitation in May and passed the test as well. So I had BG and Test in "COMPLETED" status and everything else in "IN PROGRESS" I was expecting everything to move to Completed status but 3 days ago they changed the BG status to in progress. I dont know what they are doing but this is weird.
Anybody is in the same situation and had contacted CIC?

Your criminality clearance might have expired (they are valid only for 1 year). If you never got a fingerprints request before, this might be a quick transition from Completed -> In Progress -> Completed. However, there is a very small but non-zero chance of you getting a fingerprint request now if RCMP decides they need fingerprints to issue a new criminality clearance.

I submitted my fingerprints for RCMP clearance upon CIC request on September 16th so it’s been less than a year. i hope everything will go to completed state soon and it wont drag until the expiration of my BG certificate.

If you submitted your fingerprint request after September 16th 2020, then this change in BG status doesn't make much sense. Not sure what's going on then.

Sorry that was a mistake, i meant September 2020. My application was submitted October 2019 and AOR received January 2020w

How long apart are the changes of status for this sequence: COMPLETED—>IP—>COMPLETED ?
