Hello.

i applied for refugee status on May 2006 and I was granted the status on September the same year. i applied for permanent residence and was granted in 2008.

I assumed in both case I was screened for background check.

I applied for citizenship grant on July, 2010 and my file was tranfered to Mississauga on March 2011. My application is still in process. I have called the call center a couple of times and they assured me that there was nothing missing except they have a backlog for the test interview. I called them last week, which by the way took me three days to get hold of, and the person advised me that my background check have not been completed. That was very disappointing as I have been waiting for two years now.

My question is how many time do they do the background check? I assume they did one for my refugee claim, a second one for my PR claim.. why is it taking so long for these one for the citizenship?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Background check is valid for only one year, so CIC has to repeat it for those applicants whose citizenship case takes longer to process.

Thanks Eri.

So it might be possible that my BC (the one for citizenship) expired and they are doing that again?

Just an update on my case. As at today I have not received any news from Inmigration. I am starting to panic. More than 2 years waiting. Do we have any right to complaint or at least is there is any protocol to request them to review my case? Someone please shed some light!

Thanks. Inaki

here is my status guys
ctually i applied since November 2009 , in August 2011 i received a RQ and they requested for all documents such as , taxes, school, bail, hydro, telephone, bank account statements, credit cards statements, everything that can be proof , i sent to them and i did interview in January 2012 with the agent in Montreal and she was convinced 100% that i lived in Canada 1095 days, yeah one more think she asked for the entries and exit from my country, and finally she said we don't trust your country and all papers are coming from there fake
