background check for sponsor

I am a Canadian who's sponsoring my wife for PR. My question is about my background check. In the sponsor application part, I don't see any requirement for my background check. However, as my wife is Chinese, the China-specific guide says that the applicant has to provide background check for all family members 18 ages or older. Since I am her family member, it seems that I do need to provide my background check as part of her application. Can anyone clarify for me whether I need to submit my background check or not??

they are referring to any family members who are applying for sponsorship in the application, in addition to her... usually children/dependants, or a spouse if BOTH are the applicants.

You are the sponsor, so you do not need to provide a police record. Again, the spouse they are talking about is if a husband and wife are both being sponsored by another family member to become PR, NOT a Canadian applying to sponsor a spouse.
