We have heard that once we submit our documents to our local visa office, in my case Buffalo, they send us the AOR later on. Then, they request the medical. I was told they also do a so called "Background Check" that can be done either before or after the medical request. Can anyone explain me if they usually do this Background check before or after the medical request?
Another thing, what is this Background Check they do? Don't we have to send police certificates and shouldn't these police certificates be enough?

Regards.

yes. it is a mistry,
i think backgrounds check is for all times, befor medical they check points, after this till issuance of visa they have normaly a good time and if they come a cross any serious discripency, they will still have an option in the name of background checks.
lets see what other friends think about it

1. There are 3 background checks, CIC will check the employment and education, Criminality will be checked and CSIS will do the political/background check. CHC estimates when these should be completed and will probably not send medical request until they think that the results should be received in a month or 2. As they don't want to have to send out re-medical requests if the medical expires during the processing.

Hi PMM,

I hope you can answer me this. In which stage could I be? I don't have a clue how my file is.

Applied Oct 06 Mexico visa office.
Documents requested Oct 08.
Documents sent End of Oct 08.
.....and till today no medicals...

Why is it taking so long?

Thank you.

What kind of background check would they do on work experience and education? Would they call the employer to verify all the information, even though you sent the work experience letter with business card, plus paystubs, W2 for 9 years and etc? What would also check on the education if you sent notarized copy of bachelor degree diploma and sealed transcript from a very known school? I would wonder what kind of background would they still do even if you provide all that accurate and true information?

Thanks.

As for me I thought background checks have to do mostly with criminality and is done mostly to people living in Canada . Those are the only people CIC could actually check their records.The rest of us in the US etc CIC can only get clearance through the FBI and PCC we send. Lets see what others have to say.

You are living in fantasy land if you think that CHC accepts everything that is sent to them. Of course if there are doubts, they will contact employers and schools to authenticate documents, there is just too much forgery these days. They have RCMP liaison officers in most overseas offices who have contacts with police agencies. CSIS (Canadian spy agency) also has contacts when they investigate your background. An exaple is at the Chandigarh office over 50% of the document submitted in student applications were forgeries.

PMM,

Sorry for the ignorance, but what is the CSIS and CHC?

Thanks.
If you Google it, you would have found your answer;

CSIS: Canadian Security & Intelligence Services
CHC: Canadian High Commission

PMM,

Thanks for your reply as this was my question too;

So can we safely assume that once the Medical and RPR Fee request is received by the applicant, does that means that Criminality and Background (employment/education) check has been completed, only CSIS check remains at that time? So while your medical process is completed, CSIS would be completing their background checks parallel to medicals?

my opinion.........In most of the cases they request for medical when an assesment have been finalized and a soft decission has been made. In my case they made enquries before the medical request and it makes sense.

Would anyone know whether CIC conducts employment history checks on spouses in the same extent that they do on principal applicants?
