Background check and...?

What do I really need? I've gotten some info from certain website that I need the FBI backgroung check and the Police certificate. Do I need both? By the way, I live in the United States.

You need FBI fingerprint check from USA and if you are from a different country then you need Police Certificate from that country or whichever country you lived since you became 18 years of age for 6 or more than 6 months.

So plan accordingly because sometimes taking police reports from other countries are really pain in the neck...
