Hello all,

Basically what I said in the title. I'm back to Canada after 2years out. During these two years I was a non-resident of Canada for tax purposes and I informed CRA of this situation when I left Canada and now when I got back I called them again.

Now, I'm applying for Child Benefits and because I didn't file taxes for 2017 and 2018 they require me to do it now.

How do I do this since I can't do it online because I was a non-resident?

Do I have to report the income my wife and I had in Spain while we were out of Canada? I had 0 income in Canada for 2017 and 2018, but I did have some income in Spain where I already paid my taxes.

Thanks!

To qualify for child benefits you and your wife will have to prove to CRA what your worldwide income was for the past 2 years. CCB is based on previous income not previous Canadian income. You and your wife should be providing your Spanish tax returns and any other documents they require if you have been living and working in Spain.
