Back in Mississauga? Why?

We applied for PR in April 2011, sponsorship was approved in June 2011 and sent to Seoul for outland processing. Since then, you can see my timeline under my profile. A copy of my partner's biopage was requested mid-August and once again, nothing. Avg processing is now 10 months....it's been more than 16 months. Now, my partner and I are living in Canada and have been since April 25th 2012 (we thought everything would have been done by then). My partner went to Korea for a month, to tie up loose ends and upon returning to Canada yesterday, was told that our paperwork is in Mississauga. Why would it have gone to Mississauga?! Or was the person at immigration confused? I know my partner wasn't wrong because he had no idea what Mississauga was until he was told it was there haha Although we've kept communication to a minimum, we have been told not to contact the Seoul visa office because that would delay our process. It has been well beyond the 10 month processing period and we have no idea why it's taking so long or why it's in Mississauga. Can anyone shed any light on our situation? What's going on with CIC Seoul office these days? We are also in the dark. Anyway, after a lot of thinking we decided to ask for GMCS notes again; we decided it was at least better to know what's coming even if the officers may or may not like it.

is it possible that now you are staying in Canada they decided to process it inland?

Since the processing is taking much longer than the average, now is a good time to contact your MP and ask for help. Some don't do much, but others can be very helpful. I won't hurt to ask. They can find out things that would take an ordinary person far longer to find out.

btw our MP voted against same sex marriage, I don't think he'll be very willing to help.

The immig. person at the airport was wrong, I spoke with someone at Immigration who said that out paperwork has not been in Mississauga since June 2011.

hmm, maybe you need to consider ordering GCMS notes too... although when we did that somehow we also ended up getting a request for interview. But here's hoping for the best; maybe a chance to explain applicant background details which apparently are not so common or probable from a traditional conservative korean point of view...

If you're having trouble with your MP helping, research your local civil liberties group. They may offer other suggestions. (I would even ask if a 'crusader' type MP for same-sex rights from another district could help.) I searched "alberta civil liberties" since I live in Alberta and got their webpage:

Another thing you could do is just not mention it's same-sex. It's really not his or her business if you're same-sex or hetero. If you can swallow saying 'partner' it could work... I'd do it just to get my loved one landed... and vote for someone else next election!

If your MP is a jerk and refuses to help, being a campaign volunteer for a better candidate is always a nice use of time. I really hope he or she helps you, because refuses to help you based on sexual orientation is discrimination and just plain wrong.

So, the thing is that I sent an email about the Mississauga thing to the Seoul office, no reply but my partner was contacted that day and asked to acknowledge the email, which would be followed by a message with some private documents (which could only be opened by using the password from the previous email). We replied, but have not received the documents yet. It's possible that we didn't sign a document or a document has been updated and needs to be filled out and sent back again, from what I understand.

But, this shows that the process is at least moving along. I think we will just let things run their course for now and see how things continue to progress.
