need some help, previous exp advise anything!
hi im currently applying for spousal sponsorship (common law) i found out i was pregnant my baby is due in oct and i have been told many different opinions about what to do about our baby once he is born.
1) ive been told i have to apply for a citizenship via the Canadian embassy for my son to come with us but he would be entitled to come to Canada for 6months without a visa during the process of apply for his citizenship. if this is so wouldn't i need to register my son as British in order for him to get a passport to travel in the 1st place?! so he would be British not Canadian. i have been told if my son is a British citizen then we would need to apply for a PR for him.
2) i have been told to apply via the embassy for a Canadian passport for him- but ive also been told that because me and my fiancé are not married and wont be when my baby is born, that our son will automatically become a British citizen so could take anything up to a year+ for this process of applying for a Canadian passport..(and seems really difficult as to get a passport dont you usually have to be a citizen or something).
its just all so confusing and i just want some advice on the correct way of doing this, its hard enough being pregnant and worrying about birth let alone worrying about trying to bring our son to our future home
we have until january to sort this out as we are going then due to my partners visa expiring.
