Baby born to Canadian citizen in the U.S. - specific questions

Hi,

I am Canadian, was born there and have always lived there. I just moved to the U.S. last year to get married. We've just had our firstborn son - he is eight weeks old.

I've filled out most of forms CIT 0001 (Application for Citizenship Certificate for Adults and Minors - Proof of Citizenship) and CIT 0014 (Document checklist). I've prepared most of what is needed. However I am stumped:

- I need the back of one of my son's pictures to bear the words: "I certify this to be a true likeness of ______." According to this Canada government website, the guarantor can't be a parent of the child applying.
- My son is not able to sign for IMM 5476 which designates me, his father, as his representative. Is this okay?

Edit: Apologies for giving you information about the passport process. Das67 answered correctly.

According to this page (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-passports/child-passport/apply-how.html), you need to do the following:

1. Complete the child application form, PPTC
2. Gather all necessary documents
3. Find a guarantor
4. Submit your application and pay your fees

Assuming you're currently in the US and applying from the US, for the guarantor requirements for a regular passport from outside Canada, a family member or anyone living at the same address as you may be your guarantor, as long as that person meets the basic guarantor requirements. So if your spouse is also a Canadian citizen, your spouse can sign it. If not, you will need to find an occupation-based guarantor.

As for the IMM 5476, that's not mentioned anywhere on the Child Application page. As long as you follow that page, you should be fine.

I understand that you aren't applying for a passport but for a citizenship certificate, the link you shared has nothing to do with photo specifications for a citizenship certificate but for a passport. I will suggest that you go through the instructions guide below, you will notice that photo requirements don't need a quarantor to sign.

Photographs
You must provide two (2) identical printed citizenship photos.
Print the Citizenship photo specifications page and take it to the photographer to make sure you get the correct size photo.
Do not staple, glue or otherwise attach the photo directly to the application.
Note: Your application will be returned to you if you do not include two (2) photos that meet the citizenship photo specifications.

Requirements

• Provide two (2) identical citizenship photographs (except Renunciation applications, where only one (1) photo is required.)
• Your photographs must comply with the specifications below. If the photographs do not meet the specifications, you will have to provide new photographs before your application can be processed.
• Photographs must be printed on quality photographic paper.
• Provide the name of the photographer or the studio, the studio address and the date the photos were taken on the back of the photos
• Print the name of the person on the back of the photos.
