Baby born abroad

Hi.
I need an answer asap please!
I was born and raised here in canada. I got married here, and then moved overseas. I recently gave birth there (overseas). My question now is: How do I go about the process of making my baby a canadian citizen? Also, I have a wedding in the beginning of November in canada and will be coming for a couple of weeks. Will I be able to finish the process while I'm in Canada? I will be going to visit the USA for a few days once I'm on that side of the ocean, but unless my baby is a canadian citizen already, I will need a visa for him to get in. Is there any way for me to obtain a temporary proof of canadian citizenship so that I don't have problems entering the US...?
So to sum it up, my questions are:
1) How long does the process of receiving canadian citizenship for my baby take?
2) Can I do it in the span of a week or so while I'm in Canada?
3) If not, can I receive a temporary proof of citizenship in order to be able to enter the US (in the beginning of November)?
4) And also, once the process is complete, does my baby receive a Canadian birth certificate?

You need to apply for proof of citizenship for your child, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp

1) Applying from within Canada, it will take about 5 months, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/certif-processing.asp or if you apply from abroad, add another 3-4 months.

2) You can apply during the week you are in Canada but you will not get the citizenship card that fast, see 1)

3) If you have tickets, you can ask them to expedite the citizenship card but also for a baby, if you apply abroad where you live, you can apply for a temporary passport for the baby at the same time you apply for the citizenship certificate. If you had already applied for the citizenship certificate in Canada, you would need to be able to prove to the embassy that you have applied for that in order to get the temporary passport so you might as well just apply for them both at the same time at the embassy.

4) Your baby was not born in Canada and will therefore not get a Canadian birth certificate. He will get a citizenship certificate. Paper form and wallet sized card. That will be his proof that he is a citizen.

Thanks for your answer.
Just for curiousity's sake, what would the case be if I would live in Canada? Would the process take quicker or be different?

If you lived in Canada, the normal processing time for the citizenship card would be somewhat faster but as far as I know, you would not be able to get a temporary passport. If you were planning a trip, you could apply to expedite the citizenship card by showing airline tickets.

Paper form and wallet sized card.
Just a small remark: no more wallet size citizenship cards will be issued, only letter size paper certificates. Since the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012...
