Hi Experts,

Is there any cheapest hospital for baby delivery in Toronto area. A couple known to me is a visitor to Canada and would like to give a birth in Canada.

Does anybody know the cheapest hospital in the GTA area?

How much does it cost?

Normal delivery?

or C-section?

Regards
Amir

The cheapest will be through midwife at home. Forget hospital. Cost of delivery will be anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000

It is a little risky but that is something you need to risk if you are giving birth as a visitor. Or kiya karega pandu jab kismat hai gandu?

Is it not risky? I mean midwife?

If there is a problem, they can call an ambulance and end up in hospital anyway but if it works out, they will have saved a great deal of money.

There are Diversity midwives, see http://www.diversitymidwives.com/contactUs.php

There are lots of midwife offices across Toronto. The only problem is that they are in so high demand, that if you didn't request a midwife right at the beginning of your pregnancy you may not get one. Also to do a homebirth you must have a very normal pregnancy with absolutely no complications.

Can also look at delivering at the Toronto Birth Centre, which requires services of a midwife.

If they end up in a hospital, for a regular delivery with no issues you should budget minimum $3K-$5K. As soon as c-section is required or any complications for mom or baby involving a longer hospital stay, the cost can jump to well over $10K.

Remember also if the parents are just visitors and not intending to establish residency in Ontario, then even the baby won't be covered under OHIP even though they will be a citizen.
