B2 to TD - Change of visa status

Hi,

I am currently in US on B2 visa (visitor). My wife is on TN visa in UA.
I am looking to change m status from B2 to TD. I have already filed my I-539 online last week. My B2 expire on Jan 15.

Question: While the i-539 is still in process, am I allowed to stay in US or do I have to leave the country?

In my opinion as you already applied for change of Status you are allowed to be in USA. Did you receive I-797 form? as a receipt or are your requested to go for Biometrics?
