Hello all,
Hope you're doing GREAT,

I am a self-thought software engineer with around 5 years of experience, because of working with many clients internationally I have a pretty good resume and I think I can get a job offer from a B.C based tech company, BUT, I don't have a computer science degree, and I don't know if that has any effect on my application process.

I've checked the employment requirements in NOC 2174 and it says:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or in another discipline with a significant programming component or completion of a college program in computer science is usually required.
  • Specialization in programming for engineering and scientific applications requires specific post-secondary study or experience.
I've heard that visa officers consider "usually required" as "always required" and they will probably reject the application because they don't think that programmers without a university or college degree are qualified, whereas, in reality, most of the programmers are self-thought,

I don't wanna do the hardest part (finding the job offer) only to realize that it has been clear from the beginning that I was not able to get accepted because of an irrelevant university degree. (btw, I have a bachelor's degree in Customs Management)

What do you think I should do?

Thank you guys so much!!
