Hello Experts,

I just got my CoPR and I am planning to move to Canada as soon as possible. However, the company I am working right now is okay me working from their Canadian office and would like me to visit the US office once a month. I am leaning more towards B-1 visa instead of using my H-1B for those short trips.

My question is, since I have an approved I-140, would that cause any issue with my B-1 visa?

Thanks!

For B1 Visa you need to prove that you are not intending to immigrate. Approved I-140 may affect this. Also, applying for it immediately after going to Canada may also affect it. However, for short trips you are not supposed to use H1B, so you don't have any alternative.

What should I be doing in that case to get a B-1 visa? Also, how soon can I apply for it after going to Canada?

There is nothing that you can do specifically. There is no fixed timeframe for this. You just need to convince the consular officer that you intend to remain in Canada and you have 'established' residence there.

Thank you! Will try out my best and see what happens.
