automatic revalidation visa I94 form

hi, i am leaving the u.s to go to canada. i am on f1 status. i just read about the automatic revalidation which allows non-immigrants to re-enter the u.s. with a valid I94. my question is how do i keep the airline or customs people from taking my I94 from me? can i just tell them that i need it to re-enter the u.s.

who is most likely to ask me for my I94 when i leave the u.s. for canada? anybody here have any experience to share? thanks.

Just tell them that you require it for re-entry.

Hi Guys,

I am right now in the U.S. with an expired F1 visa but an actively enrolled student with Day 1 CPT (second masters). I recently got my COPR that is valid until June 2018. I am planning to complete my landing in March 2018 and then immediately return to US to resume my studies.

Would Automatic Revalidation be a safe bet for me?
