Asylum work permit

Hey guys, got a friend who came with a student visa and claimed asylum inland. Can he use his student work permit to work while waiting for the new one as things are really tough on him at the moment. He already has a SIN and hasn't claimed any benefits

If he is studying then he can work. A study permit is to study. What benefits could he claim?

If on the Study permit at the bottom said: (Must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria) then legally speaking he cannot work with this WP as the study permit will no longer be valid as soon as he/she claims asylum. BUT the Gov has been very open after Covid & inflation hit, so he/she may be able to continue working while waiting for the new one, and it is better to ask a professional just to be on the safe side.
