Ask for Fall term extension, or apply for PGWP?

Hi,I need some suggestions. The situation seems too overwhelming to process on my own. I had to hurriedly return from Canada to India in April due to family covid emergency. Currently my university enrollment is till August 31, and my study permit is valid till November 30. Unfortunately I was in the middle of my TRV renewal process, and now I can't submit biometrics for the application to proceed further as VACs are closed in India. Two situations are possible now:
  1. Maybe VACs will open by mid July and then I submit my Biometrics, get PPR, and then I can think of departing around August 15th. The border agent then may ask why I need to return to Canada at that point ? So should I consider trying to enroll on an extra semester (I am thesis student, I can try asking for 1 evaluation term ).
  2. I try to finish my course as soon as possible, and then apply for PGWP from India. And only after getting the PGWP TRV I plan to travel. My worry on this plan, is that I saw someone saying PGWP is taking 6 months from India. Is that true? because then it would become a big waste of time for me to keep waiting for its approval and not being able to work.

Thanks in advance, for any inputs or suggestions!

No I have not graduated yet. I am a thesis student, and August 31 is my last date for submission. I have got anxious because someone told me some Concordia students were not allowed to board their flights in Delhi, with valid visa, as they had 2-3 months of registration remaining. (This all could be rumour and false too). According to the agent their travel was non essential. Most probably I would be having the TRV approved in August(earliest possible if VACS reopen). Hence I am thinking what to do.
Thanks for the reply though. Any help is very appreciated.

You can’t apply for a PGWP if you haven’t graduated. So you need to come to Canada before November.

Thanks! So practically I should not be refused flight boarding if all my visa requirements are fulfilled, just based on the logic that I have only 1 or 2 months of study remaining?

Well due to Covid, who knows. If you try to enter after you have finished studying then you may have a more difficult time. A lot can happen in a few months.
