HELLO. IM A PERMANENT RESIDENT OF CANADA SINCE 2006. AND AM PLANNING TO APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP THIS YEAR. IS 30 DAYS OVER 1095 DAYS ENOUGH ALLOWANCE FOR ME TO APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP? DOES IT MATTER HOW MANY DAYS OVER AS LONG AS ITS IS NOT SHORT OF 1095DAYS? THANK YOU AND HOPE TO GET A REPLY .

As long as you have 3 years residency in the 4 years prior to the date of the application, you will be fine.

I recall your saying that days spent abroad with a Canadian citizen do not count toward the quota for citizenship, whereas they do for permanent residency -- right?

If so, then apparently Canada wants only new citizens willing to brave the winters in Canada. Brrrr.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply. I asked an opinion bec. according to my consultant, if you apply for citizenship, you have to give extra days, like 60-90 days. Bec if you apply with few days over 1095 days only, lets say 30 days or less, they might ask for more documents. I have been out of Canada often, but i will be eligible for number of days in May. And I wanna apply for citizenship as soon as I have enough days.

My question is- Is it true there is going to be more questions or documents asked if I only few days over 1095 days?

Thank you and hope to hear from more replies.

They only care about the days required. It is not true that they will give you harder time if you apply soon after, however, if your number of days are questionable they will do further investigations regardless of whether you state a number of days "just on the mark" or a lot over.
